Help Faulty Email Notification - Buzz when there is no new email

Newbie
Hi guys,

I finally received my galaxy note today
It's fantastic!

I encountered a minor problem, however
for some weird reasons, one of my accounts I set up in the email application keep on notifying me that I have new emails
but when I opened the email app by clicking on the notification on the notification bar, there's new emails at all

Has anyone encounter this problem before?
(the faulty account is hotmail by the way, but I don't think that's the problem as I am using more than one hotmail accounts in the app)

thanks

I have a Note with the same issue. I have 2 pop3 accounts and every automatic refresh tells me I have 2 new mails in 1 account. When I check there's nothing there. Sorry I haven't helped though!

Exact same problem. Every time I get a new google email, I get a notification that I have a new SMS message. I have had to turn off all mail notifications.

This ruins one of the phones best abilities, that is the ability to personalise the individual notifications.

Hopefully they can fix this with an update.

I have the exact same problem on my Samsung Galaxy SII. These fake notifications occur whenever i delete an email (I think that this has to do with the deleted email being moved from inbox to thrash forlder, so the system thinks that there's a new mail). It also occurs some other times at random and i think that i happens when i receive a spam mail, which is sent directly to the spam folder, so when i check the inbox there's no new mail. I think that the problem would be solved if only the inbox folder was synchronised and not all folders, however i haven't yet find a solution to this really annoying problem. pls help!!!

Me too, but with an Exchange based email account used for work. I suffer notably from phantom notifications which often seem to be related to old emails, especially meeting invitations, I think.

Seems to be just the stock email client though, as the trial versions of Moxier and Touchdown I've installed both seem to notify perfectly correctly. Have Samsung altered the client, or does it affect the stock client on other manufacturers' handsets?

In any event, it would be good to have this fixed because the alternatives I've found to date don't handle all of the same things as smoothly - getting Calendar to sync has proven especially difficult as both Moxier and Touchdown seem to hold their own, independent calendar data, and for me that's a dealbreaker as I cannot do without Business Calendar, which uses data from the stock calendar. Contacts syncing seems a little better with the 2 apps I've tried as both seem to populate the stock contacts app, but the records are tagged as Moxier or Touchdown contacts, which may or may not prove to be an issue.

So, overall this remains a pain - are all of us missing something really obvious, or is there a fundamental problem?
