Gingerbread Launcher by Eugene373 (free)

(not gingerbread related)
..

I hate the launcher on my Droid 2 - 2.3.2

I like this one much better.

..

There are a few of these floating around the market.

Basically just a simple stock 2.2 - 5 page launcher..
-With a very cool super smooth scrolling 3D app drawer.

This one by has been trimmed down and is very fast and small.
Make sure you get the one by Eugene373

Requires Android 2.2 / 2.3
Works best on the more robust Android Phones 1ghz +

Sweet! Try it!

Last week I would have said xscope 6, the fastest browser with an excellent user interface.

A few days ago I discovered Keypurr, a new qwerty keyboard with big keys that gets used everywhere I need to type. It has transformed my phone to the point I don't miss my PC at all. Keypurr has become my favorite now.

The combination of those 2 with Docs 2 Go has allowed me to do pretty well everything I used to use my PC for - except I actually prefer using the phone because it's so much lighter and I never worry about recharging until night time.

Can you please post the link for xScope 6? Thanks.

my favs so far are:

launcherpro
aldiko and FBReader (ebook reader and fb2 book reader)
3banana (notes tool)
replica island (Arcade game)
ringdroid (to create your ringtones easily)
skype
YouTube app

our 2 year old likes Talking Tom and Happy Baby Faces

its gotta be "soundhound"...

i was in a restaurant(in bangalore, india). And there was this spanish song that was being played, pretty good song. so got curious and let the app do the work... the song was "me pones en tension" :D

I think my favorite app would have to be this new phandroid app I downloaded. I come to this site religiously everyday, glad to see a nice user friendly app for it now. But that's just for now since its new....lol

So far HandcentSms, Dolphin Browser, and Better Keyboard!

;-)

What does Better Keyboard offer? I love the keyboard that came on my Captivate... but I guess stepping up from a Razr2, texting would be easier anyway. Can't deal with the Swype thing...

...Another one I can't without is the Keypurr keyboard. It's kind-a funny to call a keyboard an app... but anyway it's on market.

After looking at this I was disappointed to see that the free trial ends shortly - no point me trying this...

Any other (similar) good replacement keyboards - the HTC one on the Desire is just too pokey for decent texting let alone emails?

TOP TEN:

- Air Control Lite

Common seriously?? Back in the 90's i used to play a game called 1942 on the classic NES system, which had better graphics then this!

Why are our standards so low on the Android platform?? I am anti-apple, but i must say the games on that side of the fence are pretty sweet.

And we have Air Control Lite, lol

My current favs are

LauncherPro
I go into preferences and change my dock to "Froyo Wide" then change all icons so they are in color. I also limit to 3 homescreens (all i need). Then i go into general settings under Hidden Apps, and i hide all the nonsense i will never even use, but cant/wont uninstall. Then i increase the speed of everything to max, so it snaps

PowerAmp
Great 2 week trial, then i think $5? Best money i have spent! I love this as a replacement to the stock music app.

Oh!Pics (NSFW!!)
One of those sexy girl apps, but this one is pretty decent! Lets you zoom in or save. Also if there are 15 pics of one girl, you can hit the BACKWARD button to skip right to the good stuff hehe.

NewsRob
Great reader for google reader. I know they have their own reader now, but im so used to this one! Allows full offline syncing, great for me since i read most underground in the subway. Also can sync once every 6 hours or something to save battery, and only when on wifi

Touch Pool 2D
Not the best game, but it kills time.

Gem Miner; Dig Deeper
Addicting game where you dig through a cave to find gems! Discovering new sections of the cave as you go. Risk running out of breath, or having rocks fall on you if you dont put a post under them quick enough. Free version also available

AppInstaller
Drop an APK anywhere on your sdcard, and run this app .. it will find it and give you options to install it! Simple, functional, and free!

BatteryLeft
I love the widget, and info you get when clicking on it. Best i have used, and from what i can tell it is not using any energy of its own

Flashlight
I made fun of them for adding such a stupid app onto the phone, but i must say this thing has saved my ass multiple times!!

Mangler
Anyone play warcraft, or other games where people talk on Ventrilo? This app makes it easy to connect and talk from your phone. Awesome!

ScoreMobile
I actually hate sports, and dont follow a single thing. All my friends make fun of me .. but once in a while ill pop this open and start spitting out facts, scores, details, etc ... and they are all like WTF?? haha ... very accurate, and easy to use

SMS Backup & Restore
Got sick of losing all my txts when changing ROM's, this little app made it a breeze to restore every last one of them in a heartbeat!

Smart Keyboard Pro
I love the Android keyboard it offers, with no "ALT KEYS" on top of each key. This makes a beautiful keyboard.

Handcent SMS
Im not a fan of the stock look of SMS on the Android. With Handcent it allows me to give it that "bubble" look similar to the iphone, but then customize it even more. And i cannot believe its free!

Y5
Uses no battery. Manages my wifi for me! Remembers wifi locations against cell towers, and knows when to turn on/off my wifi without me even thinking about it

JuiceDefender Beta
I bought the pro version, but i like the Beta version better! Just install it, enable it, and dont touch a single setting! It always seems to make a HUGE impact on my battery life.

GO SMS for sure, simply because I text so much and it's so incredibly useful to have the pop-up windows no matter what app I'm in, in addition to the cute themes!

I use BetterKeyboard. It basically gives you more customization options.

i compared angry birds on an iphone 4 right next to my X10 and mine looked better and cleaner than his game (and bigger screen :D)

I've learned so much from this thread and agree with the typical favorites, but my newest one is "Voice Action"!

I hadn't heard of it before I accidently ran into it when I had to uninstall vlingo (since it is just way too huge of an app for what I needed). Works great...though I'm hoping they are still updating it especially with regards to reading text messages and widget and settings capabilities.

My favourite game is definitely Angry Birds - but my favourite app...erm, probably Juice Defender or Colornote. The former expands battery life whereas the latter lets you litter your home screen with little sticky notes and to-do lists.

Also, Winds of Steel is a great time killer. As is Tank Hero.
