DON'T PANIC!!!!!!!!!
so since this is a tech site, i'm curious as to what are your favorite cooking gadgets or tech?

right now have been using the Foodi Ninja. it is a all in one cooking apparatus. it can pressure cook, broil, air crisps, bake, and is a slow cooker as well.

this is something, i'm thinking about getting:

Ooni Karu - A Powerful Portable Wood-Fired Pizza Oven

i just need to either find a place to get a great pizza dough or learn how to make one.

ahhh yes a rice cooker.....a much needed tool in my kitchen for sure. i never really cooked with a wok before.
I had a rice cooker many years ago and never really got on with it. Then I found a quick guide on how to cook perfect fluffy rice using a heavy gauge pan and never looked back. But I can certainty see their appeal, especially if you are cooking for lots of people. ;)

Loving the look of the ooni pizza oven too, might get one of those once we move.

when cooking rice you just need to know the ratio of rice to water....once you have that it is so easy to use a rice cooker. they make rice cookers in different sizes. it does not have to be like cooking for a crowd.

i have seen a few youtube reviews on the ooni and it always seems to get great reviews. i think i have enough saved up for the most current that is being crowdfunded. they have an older model that uses wood pellets, but i think i want the latest and greatest.....LOL

Yup, of course. They is an art to it using a pan tho.. :)

Ah of course, we always want the latest and greatest. What size are you thinking of getting @ocnbrze ? I'd get the little one.

If we are talking kitchen gadget and tech, I'll go with a traditional pressure cooker. Besides it's ability to shorten cooks, the higher boiling temps under pressure breaks down fats and connecting tissues in meats. If we are talking cooking in general, hands down my favorite tech is a pellet smoker / grill. The ease of smoking meats and veggies at a given temp makes a novice into a master chef.

That's not right. :) I bet you can hire a cook cheaper than the the bot chef. Either would take all the fun out of cooking. I am one that enjoys cooking however and I almost always deviate from a given recipe. That's the fun of it. That is quite a gadget for the kitchen! I need a bot that will put my long smoke meats on the smoker so I don't have to get up so early on the weekend. :)

I agree, a good knife or a set of great knives is a must in the kitchen. My favorite blades are inherited. A broad stiff blade butcher knife, an old cleaver and a fillet knife. I've not used a ceramic knife. I know they are a bit harder than steel but harder to sharpen. I've also heard that they are brittle.

well i got a ninja foodi for xmas....and it is fantastic. it is a many devices in one type of product. it can broil and bake. it is also a pressure cooker as well as an air fryer. i mainly use the pressure cooking feature the most. i just a pretty damn delicious beef stew with it.

A well-balanced, very sharp knife. Not strictly a "gadget", but that's the thing I most enjoy using when cooking.
agreed.....i still use my wusthof chef knife that i got in culinary school which was like 10 yrs ago. it still keeps it's sharpness for a very long time.

Someone graced my cabin with a spatula designed to flip eggs. I thought it was simply called an egg flipper but google didn't produce the one I was looking for. It's a rather small spatula that has its thin edge on the left side instead of the end. A left handed person wouldn't find it so easy to use but for a right handed guy it is a marvel to easily turn a frying egg over. It is no larger than an egg so when frying many eggs at once you won't disturb the egg near it when flipping an egg. I need one here at the house. :)

I want an egg spatula...

Aside from my grill, my favorite gadgets are my assortment of cast iron pans. I can do so much with them.
I'm so envious of your gas range and the ability to cook with cast iron. I only need the smallest of excuses to replace my current glass top range but it works flawlessly. :( I love cooking with cast iron and my set of cookware has been stored for too many years now.

You can still use them in your oven and your grills.

I have used the cast iron griddle a few times. I never considered the using one of the skillets.... hmmmm
Mash some pizza dough in the bottom of a cast iron skillet, some sauce, cheese, and choice of toppings. 25 minutes or so in your grill as hot as it will get and you get some killer deep dish pizzas. These were cooked on my grill, even though they are photoed on my stovetop.

Halogen oven, Panini grill, Slow cooker, and of course Microwave.
Our oven died a few weeks ago, and we don't miss it that much. When the Covid-90 pandemic has run its course in the UK, We'll have a new oven and an induction hob.
