Favorite Lock Screen App (no root)

I am looking for a lock screen app that won't drain my battery and doesn't require root for usability. I have heard negative things about the "GO" apps developer, don't know if they're true. I see quite a few on the market that say it's hard to get them back off... so I wanted to know which to try first rather than do my usual install, delete, install another one, and so on. :) Wordy, I know. One thing you will never call me is concise! (even on a tablet! I thought that once I got a tablet that I would type less in the forums. Nope, not so) :D

P.S. I know there are favorite lock screen threads, however I find the older a thread is, the more changes have been made to the apps and then the recommendations mean nothing. ;)

I love WidgetLocker app- it is by far my favorite. I like that I can control the look and layout of the lookscreen. Have you tried it before?

no, I have yet to try one because on the playstore, some of the reviews say they're hard to remove, so I wanted reviews from people on the forum first, people I see "every day" so to speak. :) Thanks. :)

Executive Assistant (there is also a free, ad-supported version) has a lock screen mode that allows you to preview any combination of email, sms, missed calls, calendar, tasks, google reader, twitter & facebook -- all without unlocking your phone.

You can use Executive Assistant (EA) as your lock screen app, or you can add the EA widget to WidgetLocker, or for Android 4.2 & up, you can also add the EA widget to the system lock screen.

Disclaimer: I am quite biased as I am the one who developed EA :)

Cheers,
Steve

WidgetLocker is the least buggiest app. Using other lockers was a problem because if i hit the volume buttons, while listening to music, the phone would turn on.

With WL it does not turn on and i can set a lock screen time out. Plus its more customizable.

Being free, I tried lock screen app. It's great when it works! I may give executive assistant a try since the dev came on to give recommendation :-) I hate to pay for apps that I can't try with a free or lite version, and so if I do try widget locker it will be if nothing else works

Most of the time, the lock screen app lock screen comes up fine. Sometimes the lock screen wallpaper comes up with no way to unlock. Sometimes the stock lock screen comes up.

Sounds like two apps tripping over each over each other... try uninstalling that wallpaper app and see if Lock Screen behaves... my guess.
