Root Favorite ROM / Kernel combo

Gomjaba

Android Enthusiast
I switched from Apple to Android not long ago and I know how daunting it can be when the geek modus kicks in and you don't know where to start.

So I thought I start a thread where people can show their setups. Some people prefer performance, some battery life.

I don't care about either really, I just like to play with different stuff :-)

Anyway. MY favorite ROM / Kernel combo coming up.

First, as you know you need to unlock / root your device.

Favorite tool of choice: Nexus Root Toolkit.

Easy as pie. Click click, done.

Favorite ROM: CM10.1 Fusion 5.50.

I usually prefer the ParanoidAndroid one but up to the current latest it seems to be too unstable as a daily driver. I had crashes etc. So I decided to give CM10.1 Fusion a test drive and love it. Especially since it now comes also with the split settings menu known from the PA.

Favorite Kernel: Faux Kernel

Thanks n4zty for the suggestion.

Only started looking into kernel when I understood the implications and differences. To be honest, I don't feel myself a difference in performance of different kernels just yet. Right now I am going by benchmarks only but I know I got the oomph if and when needed.

This one performed the best (again, based on numbers only) using the performance governor.

So here some screens and then I am done. I hope more jump in with combos and why they are using them :-)

Oh and while I am at it. Favorite theme is the CM10 Afterburner, favorite icons the Phoney Icons, favorite launcher is Nova Prime and for my desktop I am using UCCW and icons / ideas from Alex T..

Screens below if interested.

I think it depends what you want. As in, performance etc.?

I installed the latest one and performance is through the roof.

As to which one. You really three choices. Mainly based on the overclocking options

When you go here click, scroll down on page 1 for the three mentioned options (make sure you check your Android version, 4.1/4.2 etc.)
