Favorite settings widget help

Hey All,

I am not sure if this should be under the lounge or Android Apps, if it's in the wrong place, my apologies and please feel free to move it..

I am hoping someone will be able to help me with this. I decided to make maintenance for my SGH-i717 a little easier so I took a Home screen and I'm putting on it widgets of all the utilities that I use to clean up, optimize and maintenance my device. One of the widgets that I am trying to add is the "Favorite Settings" widget which is under >Widgets>Choose Widget>Settings> There are two choices here, Assistive Light, which is just a Flashlight app, and Favorite Settings. When I select Favorite Settings, I get the "No more room on this home screen" error. The problem is that there are no widgets yet on this home screen. I have tried adding additional rows and columns, every thing from the default, which I believe is 4x4, up to 6x6. And, not that it should matter but I have also tried with the device in both portrait and landscape, but no matter how I have tried, I constantly get that error message. I am truly at a loss as to why I would be getting this error on a completely clean and brand new home screen. I added the new home screen window just for this purpose.

Does anyone have any possible idea why I am encountering this and how can get the Settings widget to be placed on my home screen? I would be greatly appreciative.

Thanks a bunch!

I am not sure what the problem is but it is very strange that with no other widgets, you get this error. Does it refuse to add it to your screen because of the "no more room" error, or is there still an option to add it anyway? The reason I ask is that the widgets I use give me that error all of the time, and yet I still have the option to add them anyway, and once added, I put them in an area of the page that does indeed have enough room to fit them in. Are these stock widgets or some that you have downloaded and installed?

Hey damewolf, no, there is no option to add it anyway. This should be the stock widget as far as I know, though what is different is that when trying to add the widget, I noticed that under the settings widget there are two choices, one for "Assistive Light" and one for "Favorite Settings". I don't recall those as being the original "Settings" widget, but I do not know where they could have come from. I checked the latest updates for the Apex Launcher and I don't see anything like that in the latest releases, so I don't know where they could have come from. This is the stock rom on a non-rooted device. The home page I am trying to add them to, is completely bare, and just added so that I could try to add it to there thinking that maybe the widget was a full page widget but no luck. I checked the version info of the Assistive Light which was the second item under the Settings Widget, and it shows Version 4.1.2I717 I717UCMD3. A google search just brings it back to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean ... So it would seem as though it is part of the OS maybe? I really just don't know. :( It's really frustrating. Any other ideas? Thanks!
