Hi there. First of all, thanks for all the guides, FAQs, and other forms of help on this forum. Here's my rooting journey:
I followed this guide to root my Thunderbolt. It all went precisely as described until, in step 6, i typed "adb reboot boatloader" accidentally. That obviously just resulted in a normal reboot. So I tried again with the correct spelling, got in the bootloader, flashed with the proper ROM, and everything looked fine. I had root access, but apparently my errant reboot prevented busybox from installing. So i installed that with the BusyBox Installer app. From my limited understanding, the other two files that were pushed previous to step 6 (psneuter and wpthis) only have a temporary effect that allows the new bootloader to be written. So at this point I assumed I was good to go.
My next step was to flash ClockworkMod recovery. Then I tried to d/l a ROM via ROM manager, but i kept getting an FC ("process com.andrewshu.android.reddit. has stopped unexpectedly") when looking at the ROM list (as another guy on the forum recently mentioned). So i did it the manual way - downloaded CM7 (6-15 build) & gapps, created a backup, and flashed from recovery. that all went fine, but the radio couldn't find a 3G or 4G signal under CM7 (should I have tried something to get the radio up? flash kernel?). So I restored from my backup and the phone once again locked in a 4G signal.
My problem now is that i still have the FC issue in ROM Manager, and I've discovered another FC issue ("process com.andrewshu.android.reddit. has stopped unexpectedly"), this one in the "Reddit Is Fun" app. I'm wondering if these FCs aren't unique to the apps, but are indicative of my screwup while rooting/flashing.
EDIT: Actually, i've now figured out the pattern - i only get FCs when using 4G. On a wireless connection there are no FCs.
what's the best course of action to get a stable system?
thanks!
