So I'm trying to move a folder of all my photos from my internal storage to my ext sd card. This folder is about 2 gb and when ever I try to move it at around 93% it says failed to move. Anyone know what could be causing this?

What Android version are you on? I still don't fully understand the details but I think by 4.4 file explores won't work the way you want to

I think that could be your problem then. The way sd cards work in kitkat has changed and as I said I don't really understand it but I know it effects how file managers especially work unless you're rooted, running a script or a custom rom

Is there any work around this issue? Saw a few solutions but they require a rooted device which I'd prefer not to do

The folder on the sd card has to be created by the file manager - try X-plore.

Or try it from your pc.

The KitKat restriction is that the app must own the folder to write to it.

A lot of file managers get it wrong and KitKat is getting all the blame. It only deserves half.

I can't test X-plore for you, I'm already rooted - but it's pretty good. Start there.

Or your pc.

Thank you I'm gonna try different file manager apps now. My native file manager gets to about 93% completion of moving big files and then fails to move. Works ok with files under a 1 gb but anything over that it fails right st the end.
