Help File Manager

Anyone who has had sufficient knowledge of Android devices that are 4.4.4 KitKat, Droid Mini, can you suggest to me a better file manager than ES File Explorer File Manager? One that doesn't drain your battery or has non-extravagant or non-essential capabilities. I realize that everyone has their own opinion, BUT, I would like to hear some of the best file explorers for KitKat 4.4.4 Droid Mini. Is there anyone that can help me? Please.

I don't understand why any file manager would "drain power" and use up resources when it is not "in use".

ES works well, obviously, and there are a couple other ones that are popular, but I don't use them.

Except for copying pictures and documents from my phone to my PC, for that I use ASUS File Manager via WiFi.
Why? Because it allows you to see the "most recent" files first, and then copy them to a shared PC within a few seconds.

The process is so damned fast, you can copy over 6-12 pictures before a PC can even provide you a list of the files on your phone via a USB cable. and that list is nearly always in ascending order making you wait until the entire list of files is available to your PC... I hate that so much, I won't even use USB anymore.

I used to really like ES File Explorer too but after its user interface started getting bloated with added functions I didn't see as useful and later a major change in its privacy policies, it was time to change.
I really like Root Explorer but note it requires a rooted device (and it's about $4). If you want a nice, free (and non-root) alternative take a look at File Expert.

If you do a file manager search in the Play Store there are plenty of other options too, just take a look at their screen captures and see what appeals to you the most. As far as basic functionality they're all very similar, the big difference being the user interface.
