Help File Transfer to N7000

Hi all,

I'm a newbie to this forum and this is my first post.

I just managed to acquire a Galaxy Note 2 (N7000) from a friend and want to retire my iphone 4 because of the screen size.

I've attempted to transfer files into the phone without success. I find that it is very slow and if I try a bulk transfer of files (such as an album of music) it won't transfer all of them.

I've been told that this has something to do with flash.

Any chance someone can give me some guidance here?

Cheers,
T

How are you transferring the files? USB, Wifi, SD card???

If you are trying to transfer albums from itunes, go to the music folder on your PC, and copy that folder and its subfolders to an SD card, then plug the card into your N7000.

Hi this is ghostbuster113 again i found mine under the battery, but my phone is gsm and i live in the UK.
If you live in another country the number might be different to mine if you go into a mobile phone shop
I am sure they will help you best of luck hope this helps you.

Thanks for that. I live in Australia and it's the same, I believe.

File transfers in large amounts will not be quick, if you want you can transfer the files from a PC to the external card, that will be quicker.

The GT-N7000 is the original Note (dubbed the international version). It is powered by Samsung's Exynos dual-core and not LTE capable. It also has only 1GB RAM.

I'm not sure if Samsung updated the latest ROM to include exFAT support. I had the Note LTE (SGH-i717) version which had no exFAT support to the day I gave it away running ICS. It used the more common FAT32 format which does have limitations (unlike exFAT). You can't transfer a huge file (> 4GB) for one thing.

I would also suggest the same thing Don pointed out. Pop the card out and use a card reader. But note that you are limited to files < 4GB. Any file that is > 4GB will not transfer and work.

Maybe this would be better served in the Note forum.

Moved here as Neo mentioned since this is the original Note, it will be best served here, cheers and good luck and keep us posted on your progress. ;)

Thanks everyone.

Very useful info.

Just to keep you updated, I bought a Samsung USB cable thinking it might be the problem from the Vodafone shop. Cost me $20 and didn't make a difference so I resigned myself to the fact that this is just going to continue happening. Then I discovered that this limitation doesn't apply when transferring via Bluetooth, so I got a couple of cheap USB Bluetooth radios from eBay for about $3 the pair.

I also decided I needed a couple more USB cables (one for charging in the car and one at work), so I got a couple from eBay as well for $5.50 the pair. Lo and behold, these cables fixed the problem. The transfers are fast and error free.

Given I now know exactly what my phone is, can anyone point me in the right direction so I can upgrade it to Android 4.4 Kitkat.

Thanks again for all the help...it's all useful info.

Cheers,

Tony
