Help File Transfer - W7

I'm sorry if this has been addressed before. I just got my N7 and I can't seem to connect it via USB to my W7 laptop. The cable is connected via USB and charging but I can't seem to access the storage on the N7.

Usually I can connect my Android phone and the storage appears as another drive.

Any suggestions?

try doing this:
Developer Options Nexus 10 / 7 / 4 Android Jelly Bean 4.2 - YouTube

and tick usb debugging once you get the developer options.
once thats done, try connecting it to the laptop again.

Go to this link and install the Nexus toolkit. The first item on the list is: "Install Nexus 7 driver on your PC". Do this and it should work.

It doesn't appear as a removable drive tho, it's connected as a media device like some mp3 players do for instance. So maybe you're looking in the wrong place, it's a bit harder to spot if you've got a bunch of printers and other (wireless) peripherals connected.

Thanks for all the replies. It seemed to fix itself once I rebooted my laptop and the N7.

This seems to be a very helpful forum. Some of these forums like to crucify noobs. Thanks again for being helpful.
