Help File transfer

Rob_K

Lurker
Hi there,

I'm trying to root my phone, but I can't transfer the file to it. I have scoured the internet and plenty of solutions if you are on android 4.0.? but none for 4.1.2.

How is it done?

Can you explain it a bit more mate? Like what have you tried, what carrier version are you on, what root method are you using?

ok,
O2
Galaxy 3S GT-19300
android 4.1.2
Mac OSX Mountain Lion.

Ok I followed this root method and I have got through to and including step #10, but can't find a way to put the file on the phone. I have tried Android File Transfer and that doesn't recognise my phone. I have tried unsuccessfully to find anything on google that explains it. I can't find the USB settings on my phone. If I plug it in with usb cable, I can transfer media or pictures, but not as just files.

It doesn't mount on my mac as such, but I don't think that is particularly relevant as I am guessing that's not quite how it works. So I am a little stumped as to how to get it across. I think it strange that I can't find any posts with people having similar problems. Do I have a faulty phone?

Also I think a wireless option is out, as I have never successfully managed to tether my mac with this phone, like I could with my HTC that I had before.

Let me know if you need any other info, but I think that should cover it.

Thanks

Rob

Right. Cant you get access to a PC? i know its possible on a mac but i dont know many peeps on here who use one.
Id put another thread on the international all things root sub-forum too. Maybe use a title like "rooting with Mac" (id change the title of this thread too lol)
On a pc its really simple using the Odin program to flash CF-Autoroot to the phone and thats it done
