final fantasy 1/2 dawn of souls

So ive been playing dawn of souls on gameboid and im completely stuck on what/where to go/do. I defeated garland at the begining. ive gotten the boat, and have no clue where to go from there.

Go south west to the elven castle. If you look at your map it's almost directly south from the castle where you start the game.
