Finally going back to android! Which one?

After about a year of being without android, finally getting ride of the crackberry and the stuuuuupid iPhone! But can't decide which phone to buy. I'm on t-mobile and unfortunately my selections of android phones are limited, basically it's narrowed down to the mytouch 4G or the galaxy S. Please send some feedback! Thanks!!

I would go with the Nexus S. Its sold exclusively through Best Buy, but is probably your best option. Plus, its stock Android with no bloatware, and already running Gingerbread.

Ok cool thanks man, do be honest I have no idea what you said at the end of your post haha

Haha no problem. Gingerbread is the name of the latest software update, which is version 2.3, and the Nexus S is currently the only phone running it.

I like T-Mo's selection. They got Androids that have no equivalent with the rest of the world.

G2 - Desire Z with stock Android only. Another true purist phone.

MyTouch 4G is the closest thing to the unannounced Desire 2. It combines the Desire HD guts with the convenient HTC Desire size and feel.

Then you get the Nexus S.

So my best option is probably the my touch4g?

i vote for mytouch4g

nexus s .. does not have replaceable SDcard, no LED notifications, no front camera...
Advantage: it is a NEXUS and Amoled screen.

Nice, thanks..I hear good things about the mytouch..doesn't the vibrant have a faster processor?

You've actually got a few options with T-Mobile. :D

MyTouch4G: My brother has this, pretty nice. He upgraded from a POS Cliq. The downgrade, it's got a custom skin (2.2 Froyo) on top of it (meaning, it'll take some time to get the newest version of Android when it gets released).

G2: I got this as a replacement for my Nexus One. I had to get my brother a new phone because the Cliq was a POS and they upgraded both our accounts with Buy One Get One Free. So I tried the G2 and couldn't go back to the Nexus One. It's bittersweet because I've spent over 700 on the Nexus One with all its accessories. The G2 is also vanilla (2.2 Froyo) Android (no skins on top of it.)

Both the MyTouch 4G and G2 are HSPA+ (4G) phones.

Samsung Vibrant: Nice phone with lots of internal memory as well as a external SD card slot. My friend has it, loves it. Samsung likes to lag in updating their phones to the latest Android version, so beware. Has a custom skin (JUST got updated to 2.2 Froyo).

Nexus S: The second phone made specifically for "Google." Has vanilla Android and is the only phone to date with version 2.3 (Gingerbread). It'll be the fastest phone updated to the newest version of Android as they come out. Very similar to the Vibrant except that it does not offer external storage. So if you start running out of memory, tough luck.

If you can wait a bit (~1 month):

Samsung Vibrant 4G: Just like the Vibrant except it's T-Mobile's fastest 4G phone to date. It may have a few more advantages that I can't think of right now.

Yea I was looking at the G2 but the way the screen slides looks kinda flimsy to me, looks like that could be a major problem in the future

Looking back at the N1 for guidance... the Nexus S will likely not only be supported longer than the mytouch 4G, but it will also get the latest and greatest updates before anyone else.

So for both longevity, and advancement, I vote Nexus S.
Though dan330 makes a good point, the thing is seriously lacking a few key hardware specs.

The MyTouch 4G also gets that faster download and upload speeds too. Plus its an HTC so the body build feels more expensive, classier although the Nexus S feels more solid than any Galaxy S I've seen.

Between the screens, the Nexus S is bigger, uses Super AMOLED, but the MyTouch 4G uses an SLCD screen that looks very sharp.

MyTouch 4G has a trackpad on front. With a lockscreen app, such as LockBot or GOTO, you can use it to conveniently wake the phone by touching it instead of pressing the side button like on the Nexus S.

Nexus S has front camera and NFC potential for the future.

The bigger debate lies if you prefer the true pure Google experience and upgrades, vs. HTC's own Sense experience which has its own perks as well.

Ive only had one android phone and fell in love. And that was the G1. So I guess I'm already partial to the google phones. But if something is better than that I'd have no problem not using a google phone. Last HTC I owned was the Dash and since then I've hated HTC but then again that was a windows phone.

G1 is htc...

dont blame htc for window's BS crap! :P

if you loved the G1 and android.. why did you leave?

I need to ask you if you plan on traveling, and when you do, plan to use your phone and prepaid SIMs, especially with short term data plans. If that is the case, get the Nexus S.

HTC today is much improved but then again, so is everybody. The G1 is an HTC product by the way.

Yea as you can tell my info on phones is minimal haha. I left android cause my phone broke and I had gotten it from a friend, then got a blackberry and now an iPhone which I LOATH! And no traveling I'm 22 so I need a phone able to entertain me haha I have a very boring job
