Finally Upgraded from EVO, just a few quick ?'s

So I grew tired of waiting on the Nexus Prime, also a little disappointed that the 4.65" screen isnt really that large as the bottom contains buttons(yes i love a big screen)

So far i am really loving the phone, the bright icons are slowly growing on me (i've had a custom EVO 4G since it came out). The battery is actually lasting as long as the extended did on my EVO (keep in mindI had a lot running on EVO, I think the Go launcher, n texting seemed to eat the battery much quicker)

My first question deals with texting. On HTC's phone you could keep the text notification on the top but switch the privacy mode on so you do not see the actual text scroll across the screen. Last thing I need when showing clients my work is a text from a drunk friend lol...is this posible or do i have to go back to go sms?

Second question, when i save new photos to the phone the phone does not find them in the gallery. I have to first go to the "my files" app and then it seems to refresh.

I am also noticing the reception is much worse than the EVO so far...

all in all, I love this phone much more, the few quirks i can deal with...I was hoping to leave it as is, to extend battery life.

any help appreciated :D

The phones screen is 4.52" and the buttons aren't part of the screen. Unless you somehow managed to get a Nexus Prime you might want to do some research.

I don't know about the two issues you are having, never had to have my messages on "private" and my photos load instantly into the gallery.

Hey MachineGunn,
I too came from the EVO and I do notice the some issues with the signal. In my home I often get a roaming warning, where as with my EVO, I never had that issue. My Sprint signal around my home was already weak, about 2 bars but no real issues as most of the time I was on my wifi, but with my S2 I often get the roaming warning. Also if you are ever on wifi try holding your phone different ways, you'll notice it affects the wifi signal. I don't know if this can be fix via software, might need to wait on some hardware revisions. I think the antenna is not as good as the EVO. Otherwise I love my S2, and I am getting use to it. The icons do look "cartoonish", haven't tried any themes that might make it look cooler. Battery is bit better than the EVO, I ended up buying an external battery pack from Amazon just so I don't ever have to put my phone down! LOL. :D

I just switched to Go Launcher lol...and Go SMS. After typing the first post, i went to the gym. showed a friend my new phone and what do ya know, my girl sends me a nice perverted text that my friend sees...it should be a basic option to simply have the notification bar say, "incoming message received" instead of showing the text:)

But as for the external battery, do you mean extended battery? I've done some quick searches and only found them for the 1st Epic. I had to buy my case off of Amazon, as the Best Buy locations around here have yet to get them.

I was referring to the rumored specs on the Prime being 4.65" and the Ice Cream using buttons all on screen...but hey I thought the iPhone 5 was going to be a Sprint exclusive according to all the rumors, not only was there no iPhone5, but the new one wasnt exclusive to sprint anyway

OK after messing with the Epic 4g touch I have yet one more question. I am a graphic artist/photographer, but this just seems strange. Some higher res photos, look great when loaded onto the Epic Touch, even when you zoom in. But when you try and set them as a wallpaper they become pixelated and horrible looking. This never happened on the EVO...anyone have any ideas?

fjumayao, THAT IS PRETTY FREAKING SWEET!

==> I had the same problem. Although it is sporadic. The best way is get switchPro widget. There is an option to reload media Gallery scanner or something. When I take a picture and if my notification doesn't say Media Scanner running then I usually press that widget which does the refreshing of Gallery for me.

Another quick fix is to snap a quick picture, as that always seems to run the Media Scanner for mine.
