FINALY!! Gingerbread 2.3.3 available on KIES

Could anybody give me an idiots guide to Gingerbread, what it does, why its good etc? Everybody seems to positive and desperate to have it.

i want it so my battery will last abit longer and hopefully it will bring some more goodies to the samsung galaxey s :D
