Apps find deleted number or SMS in contact database?

Hi,

I have the Samsung S5 (Android 5.0) and deleted a number on my SIM-Card and a SMS with the same number. After then I did a backup (Win8.1) with: "adb backup –all -apk -shared –f c:\backup.ab", then converted with "Android Backup Extractor" to tar and extracted the files. Now I want to search the contact database, if there are entries for deleted numbers or SMS, which files shall I looking for?

You created the backup files *after* deleting the number on the SIM card and the SMS. There's no 'Trash can' type file in the backup database you created to do a search. No 'Deleted' file to search. Sorry, but that information is gone.

A little advice, you can take it or leave it...

If you don't, I strongly recommend saving contacts to your Google account. Seriously. If you had, recovery of that number would be a snap.

Also, I suggest you give up on storing anything on the SIM.

First, you can only store names and numbers on the SIM. No email addresses, physical addresses, notes, photos - no other information.

Second, there is fewer and fewer phones that even have an option to use SIM storage. In a year or two SIM storage will be gone.

SIM storage of contacts is an old, outdated, dying technology that should not be considered a viable option anymore.

Hi,

thanks for the answer. I don't will save any more numbers on the SIM-Card in the future. You're 100% sure when I do now an NANDroid Backup that there's no information in a file about deleted numbers or deleted sms, marked as deleted in the contact database?
