Help Fingerprint app protection?

Hey,

I'm getting the Atrix in a few days and was wondering if there is a way (built-in or 3rd-party) to protect certain apps with a fingerprint. For example, Gmail and Messaging would need a correct fingerprint swipe to open. This is useful for me because I often lend my phone to others to make a call or browse the web. But I wouldn't want e-mail/texts/etc. in the hands of others. If it isn't built-in and not yet available from a 3rd-party, does anyone know if Motorola allows full access to the fingerprint reader on the Atrix for some dev to code it?

That is a terrific concept!

You'd need access to the fingerprint reader API, and then need some kind of service that monitors processes, and when a secured one starts, trap it with some kind of scanner UI wrapper.
 
I think we got to wait for Moto to relese the Atrix source codes. That's usually allows the developers to properly write the program for special features on the phone. Of coruse I think devs can get to the API without the source codes...it's just more work.
 
FYI, I found another ES product (I use their file manager) on the market called ES Security, and it does exactly what you described: puts a security wrapper around apps, so when they're fired up it prompts you for either 1) password or b) lock pattern.

Add a fingerprint option and you'd be good to go, though I realize the market for phones with a fingerprint reader is small right now.

haha, send them an email!! I think if enough people bother them about it, they'll see that they have a market for that feature :D
