Fingerprint option in Settings not working

The fingerprint option works well for a year.
Suddenly stop working.
When I tap in the Fingerprint option in the Settings the phone do nothing, so I can't enter a new fingerprint or test the fingerprint sensor.
 
Have you tried restarting, or even resetting the phone? And the fingerprint sensor still doesn't respond, could be a hardware fault that requires repair or replacement.
Yes, I restarted. And wiped cache partition. And factory reseted. What I wondering is the following: when I tap Settings->Fingerprint nothing happens, I'm unable to enter a new fingerprint or test if the sensor is responding or not. I not suppose to be able to try to enter a fingerprint even if the sensor is malfunctioning?
 
well if factory reset does not fix the issue then we can most likely rule out it being a software issue. so my guess it sounds like a hardware issue.
