Root Finicky Touch Screen

So I like to play me some Minecraft Pocket Edition, but one of the first things I noticed about the phone was how the touch screen feels so jerky and twitchy when I try looking around. It's the same across other FPS games like Delver or Dead Trigger. I've noticed some multitouch issues on other games as well, such as Mos Speedrun, where you don't always jump when you press the jump button while holding the left or right key. Same with various emulators.
I also noticed, while looking at the screen in direct sunlight, that, rather than the usual grid which makes up the touch sensors in most devices, the sensors run in parallel vertical lines across the phone. I'm betting this has something to do with the issue.
Also, I'm guessing I'm not the only one who's had that thing happen where you're scrolling, and then without warning the screen flings the page at hyper speed away from where you were. So that's a thing.
I don't have a screen protector, but I still have these issues. Less so than with, but still quite present.
So I guess my questions are "does anyone else know what I'm talking about/have this problem" and "is it a software issue, hardware issue, or both" and "anything I can do about it, or do I just have to deal"?

Hello and welcome to the forums. I see your havimg problems with a android device. Now you say this problem happens when u playing a game . Are you rooted or not rooted

Rooted. The problem has been around before and after root.
It's not so much a problem as it is an annoyance, and it makes gaming frustrating.

Yes if rooted this is a problem with the kernel . If your rom surport differnt kernels and it has a speed kernel or a advance kernel change kernel and see if its fixed

Would the MiRaGe Kernel be one of these legendary fixes?
I can't install any roms or kernels right now, I'm stuck with the stock recovery, but I still have root. After the latest OTA update I somehow managed to keep root but lose my CWR. And since I only have stock recovery, I can't flash any kernels (I've tried :P). I'd have to go through a whole lot of tedious rigmarole of setting up Windows on my mac to try reflashing the recovery, which I really don't want to do.
If there's any way to do it directly from the phone itself or on a mac, that'd be swell. If not, I guess I can install windows again (grumble grumble)
But a different kernel will probably fix the screen issues?
EDIT: The best I can do is set the CPU to "Performance", since I can only clock it up to 1.4
EDIT EDIT: What's the best scheduler? I'm trying "noop", but I can't really tell if it's making a difference.

How did you root the first time and when you lost root it should be a new root method if it was a firmware update . So check it out u will need to put that recovery back on the device . Cause if u had it you can perform a fix permission or just flash another rom or different strong kernel . But increase the cpu and see if this fixes .noop is good

I did it with Odin, same as everyone else here. couple days later, the update rolled out, and that broke my recovery. I tried odin again, but it kept giving me a big red FAIL.
Is there any way to do it with Heimdall? I tried
sudo heimdall flash --RECOVERY /home/~user~/Downloads/cwmt-iconvmu-mirage_090813.tar

And it seemed to go through alright, only to get

Uploading RECOVERY
100%
ERROR: Failed to confirm end of file transfer sequence!
ERROR: RECOVERY upload failed!

Ending session...
Rebooting device...
Releasing device interface...
Re-attaching kernel driver...

Right at the end. Phone rebooted. No custom recovery. :/
Any tips?
