Firefox Beta for Android!

The file size of this web browser is just too stinkin' huge! Got a low space warning on my Droid Incredible as soon as it loaded. Uninstalled and sticking with Dolphin HD for now. Thanks for playing. :)

It ran on my incredible with 2.2. Don't know if it requires 2.2 though. I know when I tried to install the alpha while on 2.1 it wouldn't run but that could have been a fluke.

i'll try it out but unless they have made serious improvements over the last beta is garbage
Yea the alpha was GARBAGE as expected... it was just alpha
So far, I REALLY like it!
I LOVE the "Firefox Sync" and all of the add-ons available.
I know!! Can't wait for final version!!
Won't even install on my Incredible.
Mine either!! Keeps telling me no memory! First time i ever got that message, got over 300 mb phone storage avail
The alpha installed just fine.. it just stunk!!

from what i can tell its a common problem... it seems to have issue with some devices not being fully supported.

Merging this with main firefox beta thread in Android Apps section

Man. Everyone likes Dolphin so much.

Unreasonably large UI elements, crowded features - gestures, swipe from the left for bookmarks, swipe from the right for plugins - plus it's the slowest browser out there by a wide margin (well, excluding FF alpha, but come on now).

Different strokes, I guess. It's a phone. I like my browser lightweight, clean and fast.

Then get xScope. I have yet to find a browser that's sleeker and snappier. Dolphin's a big bloated mess and FF isn't exactly impressing me.

First time I tried it, it wouldn't install. Then it installed but wouldn't load. Then it would load, but took an age every time I tried to select anything. So at this time it's unusable.

Did anyone get the tracker to work? I wasn't able to get a cursor on screen at any point?

Sync will be a huge bonus, so I hope the next evolution of fennec isn't too far aware.

I installed it, tried it out for two days but uninstalled it. It is still quite buggy and it also takes quite a few moments to open when launched. I will wait for a more refined version. Until then I will use Dolphin, I have been using dolphin for about t and a half weeks and so far I am happy with it. I hope FireFox get somewhere as I am a dedicated firefox desk top user.

Big fan of Firefox usually ,but this is rank ,laggy ,no flash ,and nearly 30 meg ,and when moved to sd still leaves 17 on phone memory ,simply not practical on the Desire.

Firefox for Android is compatible with Snapdragon processors. He was mentioning that there is a "experimental" version for lower end phones with ARMv6 processors.

What is confusing?

I wonder how many of you used Firefox on the PC when it was Phoenix or Firebird. It started out as alpha garbage, but it has quickly developed into an awesome browser. Don't count it out now just because it sucks in alpha/beta stage. These guys will surprise you.

He never said anything about a special experimental version for lower end phones. They stated that firefox requires ARM processors, hence the confusion. All i KNOW is that it will not install on my Inc

This browser does not play will with my Motorola Droid running 2.2 :(

It is laggy, VERY laggy at times just to scroll the page. I uninstalled it almost as fast as I installed it, *sigh*.

Is there any way of getting this to install directly to the SD card as I haven't enough free space on my phone?

give it a break....they released it in Beta.....Firefox usually is pretty solid...so I will definitely be trying FUTURE versions of the app.

No.. depnding on if phone has 2.2 you can move it to sd once it's already installed (if it supports the function) and that will save you a percentage of the space it takes up
Tell you guys this right now... its pretty garbage.
Can't get it to even install on my incredible:mad:
