Firefox coming to Android!

Why will this be better than the stock browser?

it wont be...yet
but from the reading on the site they seem to be working on weave which enables synching of firefox on your computer to that on your phone. sounds pretty nice.
and firefox is pretty awesome...just saying :)

i would REALLY like to see google chrome though....

force closing and crashing. havent been able to open up the homepage yet.
i think this release may be just a little bit early. thanks for the link though

I never fell for Chrome, or Safari from Apple either. Once I found FireFox I was hooked. Google Chrome is rumored to be coming for Android! So keep your eyes open it may be along some time soon!

The problem is its a pre-alpha which is a really basic working program but like the article says its buggy! Wait for at least the first beta before you jump in with both feet!

now that would be something to get excited about. just recently upgraded software on my computer to use chrome, would be awesome if they ha it on android and there was a way to synch it all up :)

Yup. Definitely crashes and burns. Downloaded this earlier today but I learned from the last time I posted a link to a browser (SkyFire) to test it before I post and not just download it.

You can run Fennec on your computer, just to see how everything is set up.

well if i dont jump in with both feet, how can i expect someone else to? if by installing and watching it crash over and over, i am somehow helping them work out the bugs then im totally fine with that. i can always buy a new eris on CL if i mess this one up too bad. besides....a browser is a lot safer to try than something like a rollback exploit or an untested version of 2.1

got no problem doing my part in the community

I love Firefox and use it almost exclusively on my PC. The Eris HTC stock browser works great IMO, but Firefox would be the icing on my Eris browsing experience. Can't wait for an offical release of this.

I use dolphin only on my phone, i am also a huge firefox fan for computers though....if ff is working on my phone i will defo give it a shot.

This is really what Im waiting for to finally pull me away from the stock browser. Ive tried all the others: Dolphin, xScope, Skyfire, Opera. I just can't find one that I like as much as the stock. For me, if the browser doesn't use the android bookmarks, its out. Skyfire is the only one Ive found that does. Hopefully Firefox will.

Moved.

As others have stated, it is definitely not ready for default use yet. No software keyboard, slooow zoom with no buttons or multitouch, and extension support seems to have issues. Can wait for it to mature!
