I am a complete nube to this whole hacking thing to my phone. I have the two year old Samsung Captivate I897 and am going to be getting a new phone here really soon. I have been really leaning towards the Samsung Galaxy III and think that is what I will end up with. However in the meantime I might as well start doing thing to the phone I have that I never thought I would try because I was too afraid that I might brick it.

And a lot of people that come on here don't know that much about Androids, but that doesn't mean they can't learn! We also do have a lot of people very knowledgable on the subject and can teach you what you need to know.

Also make sure to do a lot of reading on this before you attempt, because bricking is a possibility, but a lot of times you only soft brick which just requires a system reboot/reset.
Make sure to back up all your data
