Root firmware encountered an error

Hi

I tried to root my phone using the guide on rootz wiki entitled "[KERNEL] [GUIDE] Root Your Stratosphere! :-)"

I got up to flashing my phone, but I got a weird interaction:

user$ --kernel root-zImage

Heimdall v1.3.1, Copyright (c) 2010-2011, Benjamin Dobell, Glass Echidna

ERROR: Failed to receive response!

SO the root failed, I assume. Now it keeps saying that the "firmware encountered an error" instead of turning on. Is my phone bricked? Can I fix this?

have you tried flashing it again? it sounds like so ething bugged out part way through, im far from an expert buy i would try flashing it again and see if it goes through

I had a very similar problem. Check out my post Here

A few questions.

1. ) Does Heimdall detect your device?
2.) When you are trying to flash the kernel, are you using the command:
Code:
heimdall flash --kernel root-zImage
3.) Probably the most important one: Do you have your phone in Download Mode (Accessed by powering off the device and holding the power key and the volume down key simultaneously).

You didn't make the same mistake I did, thank gaia. I had the wrong version of Heimdall...
