Root Firmware update available

Newbie
Anyone download this yet? Apparently updates baseband and software version to 1.004vm. I'm wondering if this is some sort of security update that could break root.
 
We're poking sticks at it in the Clockworkmod thread. Apparently it won't install the update if you're rooted or have otherwise altered /system so...

I have the stock phone, it has started the update 3 times this morning but once failed to finish, 2nd finished and install failed, and 3rd time is about 15% into download again....

I downloaded this yesterday...

The only difference that I now notice is that before the download programs such as Xiia Live Pro and Winamp had no trouble streaming audio.

NOW, the 3G connection continually drops.

Virgin Mobile had me do a re-program of the phone--nothing changed.

I would highly recommend (if its even possible) to NOT download this upgrade--phone is less stable than ever and the aforementioned 3G issue really makes things bad.


Ahh, ain't it the "usual"--the upgrades just mess things up more?
 
I have and my phone is working better but I just can't seem to get my phone to root again so you probley don't want to update
 
I was bored today so I thought I'd try it. My phone is rooted and the update went through just fine on the first try. Dont notice any changes other than it says 1.004 now. Root still works fine. Checked with terminal emulator, root checker, etc.
 
Well take a look at my noob edition and somethings you could try a complete wipe save all the files you need to a pc and then boot , do another rest then the next thing download each file one by one then after every app install reboot before the next and now my superuser binary is outdated but still working like a chram but that's my two cents just trying to help
