Help Firmware update (Feb-12)

RobDickson

What do I get with the latest firmware update that's been mentioned in this forum a few times? Is it only an updated Market app, or is there more to it than that?

If it's only an updated market app, I might as well ignore the update, because my market app seems to be working OK.

It truely has fixed wifi problems before I would only get wifi after having the tablet on for 30 min to an hour or if I plugged it into the wall I would suddenly get wifi...I would do the update

It's a good update as it fixes a few issues and improves responsiveness. ICS won't be here for another month or more.
Just saw on MobileSyrop that Jelly Bean Android 5.0 "may" be pushed out in a few months. The article mentions that Google isn't happy with how ICS has worked out on various other devices and that they want to beat Microsoft to the shelves with a new/better OS. This is just a rumour so far, but it makes sense when you consider how poorly ICS has been received on devices other than the new Galaxy Nexus.

Thanks for your comments. I always wait a while before upgrading, but everyone seems to be happy, so I'll give it a go soon.

I've found it fairly responsive since the last update, but any improvement is always welcome.

I have had occasional wi-fi problems, but nothing that turning wi-fi off and on again didn't solve. Still, I'd rather have it working all the time.

I've only used ICS on the Galaxy Nexus, so don't know about other devices. A new OS being rushed doesn't sound like the best idea ever.

Not sure I like the new market, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. It's just decided that an app that I updated before updating the Tab needs updating again, but it won't actually update the app. I'll give it another go tomorrow.

Install went fast up until 29%, steadily with a few pauses until about 55%, a quick jump to 80%, then quickly to 99%. What seemed like a long time on the flashing Samsung screen before starting OK. Had to turn wi-fi off and on for it to connect.
