Help firmware update help needed

So I have a htc one m7 att unlocked phone. ? Is do I download the firmware for att even tho am using metro? Or do I update using the t-mobile metro firmware?
Htc told me to download the att one. But wouldn't tell me why. I don't care about the att apps. any ideas? thanks

I can't update with the phone. since its not hooked up with att anymore. I have to download the file and use my computer.

Firmware is model specific. Your AT&T version has a different model number than a T-Mobile version. I'm not familiar with HTC devices but that is the way it works with Samsung, Motorola and other devices I've owned.

Good to know. I will make sure I install the att one. htc is in the shop.

need to update s3 but can't find the firmware updates, On att or samsung. I had to do factory reset today so everything is from 2013

I think the current release is 4.4.2 NJ2. AT&T doesn't release its firmware but there is rooted version that you can flash with a custom recovery.

You need an active AT&T SIM Card (service),less the method @Jfalls63 just posted.

I've been down this exact road twice before.
Less root,an active AT&T SIM Card is the only way you're gonna get any updates on an AT&T device.
