Firmware Update July 2012

Can anyone please tell me how to get rid of the update reminder ? I can only say no 3 times which i think is bogus. Please help.

The only way I know how to get rid of the update reminder is to update.

I really hate things that nag you constantly. I got rid of Norton 360 on my PC because it kept nagging me all the time. I'll update when I'm good and ready. Finally had enough when it interrupted me while I was playing an MMO. No harm done, but got fed up, uninstalled and sent them a scathing comment.

Firmware updates on the Transformer was also a PITA, but the tablet works so well, so I'm overlooking it for now. At least for most apps, I can turn off the reminder. Asus needs to understand that if our tablet works well, we don't want the update, so don't bother reminding us. I'll update when I'm good and ready. Actually, if I'm good, I won't update. If I'm bad and ready, I'll update.
 
I have to say I like the update. My standby time on a charge was 6 to 7 days under HC. After the ICS update my standby time dropped to 2 to 3 days. After this update I'm back up to 6 to 7 days on a charge. That's with about 3 hours screen time for the week. I don't have a dock, so I don't think the listed "Mobile Dock Battery saving mode bug fix" fixed this. But whatever it is, thanks ASUS.
 
After the previous update, my T101 no longer crashed randomly or got stuck in the boot loop, but it would restart occasionally while asleep. Since this update, I don't think it's rebooted at all. Current status shows uptime of 287+ hours which is around 12 days. I updated on the 5th and today is the 17th so it looks like no reboots. :D

My other half took it on holiday with her and she's claiming it's virtually unusable, she'll get 15-20 minutes into a film and reboot. It's happens at least 4 or 5 times during the duration of a film apparently.

I'll try a factory reset when she's back, if that doesn't sort, looks like I'll have to send it in. :(

It's stuff from her DVD collection I've converted for her and stuck on her external HD. She's doing quite a few long bus journeys without WiFi so it was something to help pass the time if she got bored of her sister.

I'll get her to try streaming some of the movies on Play when she gets a decent connection, see if that makes a difference.

I was actually noticing things getting worse myself though, I was using it quite a bit when her family were over and the rebooting seems to have got more frequent since the first week or so after the last update (although not as bad as she's making it out).
 
Just an update on stability. I restarted on my own at one point early on, but it's now been on for 9 days straight and on the same charge for 3 days with light use and 56% battery remaining. The first ICS update would barely last to the next day in standby alone. Very satisfied with this update.
 
I was just thinking the other day, if ASUS announces Jelly Bean for the TF101 how much anxiety it would cause in this forum. After living thru months of issues with ICS, we all need to be left alone or a silky smooth upgrade.

And yes, standby time is great. I'm on day 9 of a charge right now.

So now its been on 24 straight days. That update looks interesting, but I don't know if I want to mess up a good thing! I probably will, though.
 
I saw the question asked, but did not see an answer: Is there anyway to go back to HC? My machine was fairly new when the firmware update, and I unthinkingly took it. It has been unpredictanly slow and then worked well, then slow again . . . This didn't happen before the firmware update. Again, is there any way to go back and restore the old operating system?
 
You would have to root and find an old version of Honeycomb and be careful not to "brick" it.

Try turning it all the way off and back on a few times. Seems to squash some of the bugs. Mine has been pretty solid since that last update though.
 
Yes, the more I look at this the more I see I am not going to be happy with the machine until I root it. I'm working up the nerve to get serious about this project.

I had trouble working with my keyboard at first. I was on some medication that caused a lot of tremors in my hands and I couldn't keep them far enough away from the touch pad (which was working). It seemed that I caused the cursor to jump all over the page when using a word processor. The problem was solved by turning the touch pad OFF. After this I controlled the cursor with the touch screen or a mouse. Turning the touch pad off was accomplished by pressing the fourth key from the left on top row or the keypad. I wonder if you may simply may need hit that key to do the reverse . . . turn it on. Maybe you have already tried this, but it worth a shot to mention.
