Root firmware.zip

Lurker
i searched around a lot but didn't find the answers i was looking for... my carrier just released OTA update for my cdma desire ("OTA_Bravo_C_S_UTSTARCOM_WWE-Generic_2.13.557.0-1.28.557.4_release_189059_Signed5jyp8u76vwxsymmw"). now my understanding is that OTA is a no-no when rooted. my question is this:

included in the OTA update is a "firmware.zip", can i flash this zip without fear of breaking something?

included in the firmware.zip are:
boot.img
hboot_8x50_1.06.0000.img
radio.img
rcdata_AKD6.03_112_20110308.img
recovery.img

also... after flashing all or part this "firmware" zip successfully (fingers crossed) is it possible that i would then be able to run the OTA successfully?

No you can't - applying an OTA in ANY form will screw your phone up. That coupled with the fact you'd end up on an HBOOT the CAN'T be rooted would mean stay clear!!

the fact that i'm rooted with s-off already make any difference?

OTA updates update the same as an RUU (hboot, radio, ROM, recovery). Except in some cases its part thereof. Meaning in an OTA, it expects a certain version of everything and does the minimum possible to upgrade it to the latest version.

Being rooted and having custom hboot gives you twice as much no-no as being rooted alone.
