Android Forum should be pro-active!
Let's stop

and do what is simply the right thing to do!

ironass two penn'orth, (2c worth)... I believe the forum should still be kept open as there are still things going on with refunds and offers on the Note7 and there may well be questions from former owners about this rapidly changing situation worldwide.

What we should be politely doing, is guiding any of those that have not returned these potentially lethal devices, (currently around 375,000 worldwide), to cease using them and return them for a refund a.s.a.p as it is now abundantly clear that Samsung and the carriers are taking steps to stop their use and even make it illegal to own one, see, here.

So, rather than throwing the baby out with the bathwater, let common sense prevail and continue to help previous owners of the Samsung Galaxy Note7 and encourage those that still possess a Note7 to do the right thing. ;)

Shut down this forum? Could I send you a roll of aluminum foil? I can't believe the level of alarmism underlying that suggestion doesn't come without an accompanying level of paranoia that requires large quantities of tin foil application to assuage.

What's the point in keeping open a subforum for a phone that's been recalled?

(That's my view, which isn't necessarily the opinion of our admins).

Procedures have all been announced regarding refunds. Future deals for new issue phones that aren't going to be out until next Spring are pretty much worthless as to their credibility at this time. If Samsung or your Carrier is going to entertain some compensatory rewards then I don't think anyone would need this thread to find that out.

That's been overly done already. This forum is more than likely going to generate more pissing match commentary than anything else of value, while in turn making it burdensome on volunteer Moderators to have to closely monitor threads to referee them before they draw blood.

Where'd you get that 35,000 figure from? I thought it would be at least 200,000.

My bad! I missed the, "7" out.

Samsung announced that they sold circa 2.5 million Note7 handsets worldwide and have stated that 85% of owners have returned their phones. That leaves 15% or 375, 000 Note7's still to be accounted for. Have now amended my previous post.

Could you please give me one good reason for potentially placing other people's lives and property at risk for a phone that may well be illegal to use and will soon be obsolete? Whilst you can choose to take a chance with the Note7, you have no right to jeopardize others, I think you will agree.

I have a suggestion. If you have a problem with people who are keeping their Note 7's, refrain from further comments complaining about it, or otherwise voicing your opposition to it. Not because you shouldn't feel free to speak your mind, but because you already have, and continuing to do so can only serve one purpose - to make yourself a nuisance.

What alarmism? You're mistating yourself as the N7 is at the stage of 'it never happened'! So basically there's no paranoia on anyone's part. The facts are real per the Manufacturer's statements, pleas and other actions not any member here. In other words, the writing is on the wall and everyone here has either been responsible or read it to those who cannot understand.

If you desired to walk around your own home with an unpinned grenade then go right ahead, but I ask, Do you need a forum for that action?

You don't own a Note 7. Do you need to remain here to troll people who do, who are exchanging questions, answers and ideas regarding that? I can't see how you do.

I think the threads should just be closed with a final statement:

It is illegal to continue keep these phones, and further discussion on the AF forums is contradictory to law.

I do own an N3 and each year follow this message board to help guide my decision-making as to whether I upgrade to the new model.

FYI, I became an active member and contributor to this message board with many of the members on here since we all got excited about pre-ordering the HTC Droid Incredible. Therefore, I don't believe I troll and it is in my best interest to participate in these forums to help promote positive discussion for future models that are of benefit to the Note enthusiast. I admit there are times that I go off-topic to try and inject some humor which could be taken as steering things in a negative direction. Trolling? I think not! Opinionated member and participant - GUILTY!!!

I own a Note 3, too. It seems like you've made all your arguments about why you want other people with Note 7's to give them up. Several times over. Unless you have new information/ideas about that topic, continuing to repeat yourself in response to others engaging in constructive discussion about their device and the ongoing issues involving it just amounts to inappropriate and unwelcome nagging.
