First sim locked??

Alright so i got an s7 sent to me by rogers.. Wanting to sell it i bought an unlock code off ebay and grabbed a buddies virgin sim and followed the instructions to find out it worked without any code.. Is my s7 locked to virgin now? And will my unlock code i was given work when i originaly said the phone was from rogers?

New to this stuff and i messed up i think

AFAIK unlock codes come from the carrier who supplies the phone. What was on Ebay could have been some scam possibly.
