First tablet decission please help

I'm getting my first tablet in the next couple weeks but I still have not figured out which one I want.
Budget is about $600. I'm going to use it for entertainment, (games, internet and movies) I have it narrowed down to Nexus 10 and Asus TF700.
I'm just not familiar with tablets to know if I'm better off with the Asus' 1 gb ram /quad core or the Nexus' 2 gb dual core? Also I'm going to be needing to be able to use micro sd's for photo storage and viewing.

I'm also not sure about battery life on the 2 tablets.

Any pro's and con's from current and past owners and any info from techies is greatly appreciated.

Nexus 10 would be better. The Nexus 10 has a dual core A15, which makes it as powerful as a quad core A9 which the Transformer uses, not to mention that the Nexus 10 also has a more powerful graphics chip and better screen, making it overall a better device than the Transformer.
 
i have the transformer infinity and i love my tablet. yes what chancan05 said is true about the processors. but does it have a keyboard dock like the TF700? i bought my tablet because of the dock. it has a usb port, a sd card slot, and a touch pad. not to mention that it acts as a battery pack for the tablet. on continous use i can get almost 12-15 hours of web searching, netflixing, and listening to my music!!!!!!!

now the one thing that i like about the nexus 10 is the screen and the graphics from what i hear is amazing.

i think to be honest you can't go wrong with either tablet.
 
Depends if you need those accessories actually. If they arent a big deal, they won't be much of a factor, especially since those things make the set much more expensive.

this is true. do not get me wrong though both tablets are great.

i use my tablet more then i do my laptop now. the keyboard dock is expensive ($149.99 when i bought it. but because of xmas you probably can find them on sale some where). but the features on it is amazing.

plus i just learned that i might be able to hook up a usb dvd player to it via the dock!!!!
 
Thanks guys, sd card support of any kind is important for me to view trail camera photos. Even if I have to use an adapter of some kind.

well both will have micro sd card ports built in. but, the inifinity keyboard dock has a standard sd card slot as well which is perfect for cameras.
 
Are you sure the Nexus 10 has a micro sd port built in? I know there is a micro usb port that I can get an adapter to go to full size usb and I have a usb sd card reader. But I've heard that the Nexus tablets don't allow files and photos imported in. Is this true? I think I've made my decision to get the Nexus 10.

I've also heard that the Nexus standard charger is very slow is there an aftermarket charger that I can get that works better?

(1) N10 does not have MicroSD slot
(2) You can use USB devices using the OTG functionality - you would probably have to use some app like Nexus media importer which you can get in the Play Store. You may or may not need to root your device for this - check the app requirements.
(3) You could connect the USB charging chord to your computer and simply transfer files/ media that way AND/OR use the so-called "cloud". I use both these options - the former more than the latter.
(4) Yes, the N10 standard charger is very slow. I don't know of any after-market charger available at the moment - though I have seen reports of an imminent release of a dock for the N10 - I take these reports with a grain of salt because...well, you know! That being said, I don't seem to have problems with the battery life of the N10. I get about 9-10 hours of up-time with it - admittedly, I use it primarily for reading, for we-based reading and research and watching movies, YouTube (sometimes) and TV shows. My system settings are, however, quite conservative. Aside from background sync, I turn off most of the other services like NFC, Maps etc. My screen brightness is about 25%. I do use Chrome as the web browser - though I do think it eats up battery more than usual (just a suspicion that I have).

I know you did not ask this, nevertheless, I should add, I do not - for a moment - regret having bought the N10. I enjoy using it. Of course, YMMV, as always. Good luck!
 
Sounds on the move. I found a universal micro usb to usb cable will this work or does it have to be the Samsung brand? It also has a micro usb port so I can charge and use the usb port at the same time. It says it is for the Nexus
 
I have a tf700 and and I wouldn't trade it for a nexus 10 because even though the processor is older, the keyboard dock puts it into a class of it's own. However buying the device and the dock will run you a lot more money. Asus is relatively good about updates, but will always be behind a nexus device. You'll get much better battery life with the tf, even more so if you have the dock, but the charger is not standard micro usb but charges must faster as well.

In the end, if you find yourself wanting a full keyboard plus all that comes with it and don't mind the extra costs, go for the tf. Otherwise go for the nexus 10.
 
I really think either tablet will do fine. I'm getting the Nexus 10. My final decision wasn't easy but i had more pros than cons

Slow charging - this willl be fixed with the new rumored charger
No direct sd card reader - this can be fixed with adapter cables
No keyboard- after market keyboards are available
 
I believe the N10 has pogo pins on the bottom which hopefully, Samsung will release a nice keyboard docking station for it. But, seeing as how the last two Nexus devices (Gnex and N7) have little to no accessories to utilize them, I'm not so hopeful on it.
Tegra 3 is fine, but my TF201 stutters quite a bit on JB even.

While we are getting suggestions Is there a difference in screen protectors? I've seen them on ebay anywhere from $9 each to 3/$4
 
im a zagg guy. if you register the shield they will give you a one time replacement for free!!!!! so if later on it gets scratched or bubbles form then they will replace it for free. and for $5 more at a zagg booth they can install it for you!!

most malls should have them. but go to zagg and maybe check to see if there is a booth or dealer close by. i know best buy has them. but they charge $15 to install it.

and as long as the charger has a usb port you should be fine charging it that way with the cable that comes with the tablet.
