First Tablet

I am in the market for my first tablet and thought I wanted the Transformer. The Best Buy here has like 100 in stock. While looking going to purchase the Transformer, I stumbled upon the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in a keyboard dock. I WANT A GALAXY TAB! My dilemma comes when choosing between purchasing the wifi model or waiting for the 4g version. What are everyone's thoughts on this? Is the 4g worth the extra cost up front plus the $35 a month for two gigs?

I purchased the first tab last Christmas on the sprint network. Also got the 2gb data plan for $30/month. Now that I think about it, I use wifi 90% of the time because its pretty much available everywhere now. On top of that I have the hotspot on my EVO. I paid $400 for the tab and will end up paying $720 in service. I decided to cut the service off and pay the ETF cuz it was cheaper then going for another 1 year and a 1/2. I also decided to go with the Tab 10.1 wifi version. Lets say a year from now something else awesome comes out, if you have a data version tab 10.1, your stuck. With a wifi version, sell it to get the new tablet, that easy.

If you have a phone that has hotspot, utilize that and save the money.

Good point. Would I be missing out with the ports on the Transformer? Not like I can print or anything right?

In my opinion, your not missing out. First of the Tab 10.1 is better in quality and performance. I messed around with both at Best Buy so its my opinion. The Tab 10.1 has the ability to use HDMI, USB, etc....you just need to buy the adapters for them. But I can probably tell you that you probably won't even think about using any of that until waay down the road. Most people surf, play games, watch movies, and listen to music anyway. Just like I purchased the desktop dock for my Tab 1, used it maybe 2 times and ended up returning it because I paid $50 for something that sat on my desk 95% of the time. As for prinitng, there will be apps out that will let you print over the network. I use printershare now with my Tab 1 that lets me print from my Tab to my wifi printer from anywhere in the house.

A good investment would be a case and possibly a screen protector, and of course....apps (when more become available of course). Aside from...just have a blast with it and keep checking these forums for lots of tricks and tips.

GT10.1 is a better buy IMO. for something you hold 90% of the time to have it be light and thin is a major plus. also tether off my phone is by far the best thing ever. and if you have a 4g phone then is the same thing lol. go wifi and never turn back.
