First time without an iPhone, have a few questions

Please forgive me if these questions are elementary or simple to fix but I came here to get solutions as I have had all apple products for the last 7 years and just recently (48 hours ago) purchased a galaxys5.

1. What is the difference between PHOTOS and GALLERY? I prefer to only use one of the available options for each service (CHROME over INTERNET, MUSIC over PLAY MUSIC, etc.) but other than layout I can't really see a difference between these two.

2. Is there any way that I can slide a message to delete it (I use MESSAGES to manage my texts and MMS) but I have to go to settings, select, choose the message, then delete them. Is there any way I cam just swipe one way or another and not call the contact but delete the message thread instead?

3. This one really irks me... is it possible to delete entries from the predictive text that shows just above the keyboard? For example, email addresses and usernames are what I'm talking about. I don't want to type 2 letters and see a username or email address I've used pop up... Any way to fix that? My email address is randall.flores00@gmail.com, and by the time I type a few letters, the whole email address is displayed just above the numbers on the keyboard. While this doesn't seem like a big issue, some of my usernames for various websites and apps aren't child-appropriate, so I would appreciate them not being displayed at the touch of a button.

4. What service do yall use to play music downloaded to your device? I get my music files from several different places and oftentimes the files don't have the proper information in the correct places (artist or song title is filed or incorrectly) and I'd like a way to manage and edit my songs information in one convenient place. Any suggestions?

5. Is there any way to stop certain items that show up in the notifications center? For example, I don't need a notification that am app I selected to install has completed or that a screenshot has been captured.

6. Is there a way too move the APPS icon from being glued to the bottom row of the home screen?

Any and all help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I'm very new to the android os and I know there's so much room for customization, I just need help before completely diving in after being constrained by the limitations of IS for so long. Thanks everyone.

The Apple way is "this is the app we want you to use, so that's the one you get". The Android way is "do it any way you prefer. Here are a few dozen ways to do it". That's one of the strengths of Android. (You'll probably find that neither Chrome nor Internet will suit your needs, because neither one does Flash. Yes, Android does Flash, but you need a browser that does it also. (And almost every other Android browser does.)

Not that I know of. Some of the other messaging apps (GoSMS, etc.) might have that capability.

Again, not that I know of. You can turn predictive text on or off. (Again, some keyboard apps may allow editing what they can predict.)

Since there's no industry standard for music download, you get what you get. Some files are recorded properly (that's where the information you're talking about (metadata) is located - in the file - and some aren't.

Some apps have a Notifications setting in their Settings menu. You can turn notifications on or off, or set what they notify you about. Others don't.

6. Is there a way too move the APPS icon from being glued to the bottom row of the home screen?

Long-press an app (until you see a change) and move it to where you want it.

Try downloading hellosms or evolve see, both have features that you will enjoy.

As far as predictive text, download SwiftKey keyboard. It has amazing predictive ability and you can long press on a prediction and select do not predict in the future and you will never see it again.

I use Google play music and Amazon music but I still haven't found a music player that will integrate both.

• Photos and Gallery is just a different way of looking at your pictures.

• You can just hold down on the message "long press", a trash can shows up and then you can click that. Different message apps can be configured for the slide sideways action.

Thanks for your replies! I actually figured a few of these out

1 with respect to GALLERY and PHOTOS, I don't see a huge difference other than GALLERY gives you the options to set photos to private while in private mode that PHOTOS doesn't.

2 Thank you so much for your help with that one! For some reason I didn't even think to just hold down the message lol, I appreciate it.

3 was an easy fix that I found by mistake. If there are any predictive text words, email addresses, or usernames you don't want the phone to remember, simply press down on the word when it pops up just above the numbers and drag it up and out of the predictive text bar. The phone will forget the prediction and it works wonders for me

6 you can't change unfortunately, the APPS icon is glued to the bottom right corner unfortunately.

one thing that apple users are not used to.. is the app drawer.. the icon is needed in order to get to your apps instead of having all of your apps on a bunch of different screens.

different launchers you can move the app drawer icon wherever you want. i personally use nova launcher.. more customization to make icons smaller, more grid options, and such.

i personally have 7 icons on my quick launch bar on the bottom, and my grid.. or icons on the main screen, can have 5 across, not just 4.
