Fix for Alarm Clock silenced after 1 min?

Hi,

I just recently switched from an iphone to the Galaxy S5. I am concerned with Alarm Clock app/widget as it silences the alarm after only 1 minute, it does not loop a segment of a song or play an entire song. I understand there are lots of alarm clock app out there that will continuously play a sound until the user does some task but my question is:

1) Is there a way to just fix this on the standard preinstalled app?
2) If I use a different app will I need to ensure it stays open all the time for the alarm to work daily? Meaning, if I use the "recent apps" button and then close all the apps there - does that force close the alarm clock app thus requiring me to remember to open it for it to work daily?

Thanks for your help!! Loving my new phone so far! =)

Well, actually, when you set a alarm, you can turn on Snooze and Smart alarm, and choose the interval minutes and repeat times. In such case, I'm sure you won't miss the alarm. Besides, you can set your favorite song as the alarm tone.

As for the second question. I say Yes, you'd better keep the alarm app open, in case you forget to open it.

...ps sorry for raising an old thread from the dead, I hadn't spotted the date. It is still an ongoing issue and I've been looking all over the place for an answer.

just manually set an alarm for every minute its not a big issue
