Help fix volume

How do I fix the volume on this phone? It's a ZTE Z987 that recently got wet. The apps came back just fine, but now the volume is way too low.

I have a phone (S3 mini) that did just that - a year ago - I dont think mine will ever recover. I think water got in the speaker and physically damaged it. Is that what you meant, that the volume is set to full but the output is really quiet?
 
Yes, that is exactly what I meant. If I connect it to a speaker that helps, but I don't want to drag a boom box everywhere. Is there any way I can actually get it fixed?
