Since the Zmax Pro is plagued with numerous software issues, heads-up notifications being one of them, here's a little solution I found.

Floatify will throw a heads-up notification for every notification that appears like Android should be doing, unlike the Zmax Pro which will only do it <5% of the time (and when it does, it's transparent and difficult to read.)
You can change how they show up, and even have it show up like they do in Nougat. You also should configure it to not show notifications from apps that don't need them, like Google Play Music, Facebook Messenger, and Google Now. now lets hope we can get a real fix like installing cm13 to our phones smh
