Flagship theory

My theory is, that Verizon and/or HTC have an agreement, officially or unofficially of not offering a flagship device when Samsung has one at the same time. I say this, because since the Thunderbolt, there hasn't been a flagship device to speak of on Verizon.

It seems that Apple and Samsung now get to be the main competitors. Motorola gets some flagship devices, but only in the "Droid" or "Razr" series, until the "X phone" comes out. Their stuff gets delayed too, look at the Bionic for example! It seems that whether it's HTC or Verizon, or both that cause this to happen, they simply won't do this anymore. The Incredible 4G was delayed, then quickly overshadowed by the SGS3. The DNA came out, without SD support, and I heard a Verizon employee talk it down and the S3 up like he's paid by Samsung!

This is ridiculous. I know it's way up on the executive level when it comes to all this but since we don't get the One, and who knows what else, it seems unlikely to see any flagship of HTC on Verizon without serious changes happening.

Thoughts?

If the DNA wasn't a flagship device, I don't know what is... It was the first 1080P screen in the US. :)

THey aren't getting the One because they have the DNA. Its not a huge leap from the DNA to the One, so its understandable. Yeah an all aluminum case would be nice, and the dual speaker setup is awesome, but the DNA is a pretty phone as well, and it will be getting Blinkfeed here soon.

Glad to hear about blinkfeed. A coworker said something to me about rumors of the DNA getting it. And with regard to Verizon/HTC, I bought my dna from Best Buy but went to three Verizon stores before hand (2 were corporate and 1 was not). One of the two corporate stores was promoting the DNA pretty heavily, but the other one was treating it like a bastard child and in effect saying buy anything but this. At the third store that was non corporate they were like bad used car salesmen and didn't want to sell anyone anything but an S3 and were completely denying the upcoming(this was late march) announcement of the S4.

When I purchased the HTC Rezound, they were talking nothing but Motorola. It seems they are doing the same with Samsung now.

Agreed! It was the "Droid" series, then the "Razr" series that were pushed, after that it became all about the Galaxy S3, now the S4.........

When I go in, all the push is Apple. VZW, least the corporate store I go to, has employees that don't know *&%$ about phones. But I agree with the original post, seems like VZW doesn't carry the high end HTC phones since the Incredible.

I think they're just trying to push what they have a lot of in stock before it goes stale. Verizon in notorious for delaying releases so they can trying and get rid of the old stuff.
Another thing Verizon will do is keep tight lipped about what's coming out soon. If they told customers that the Z phone was coming out next week, then no one will buy their whatever phone that has been out for two months.
