I am not sure that your question is clearly stated. However, I might have some input of value in regards to concerns about switching ones email from PC platform to an android device in general. I will continue to have the PC as my primary email checkpoint, but from mobile devices I also like to have access to email. If using POP3 it is possible to have the mobile device configured to "leave mail on server" therefore making it possible to have the same messages available to both your mobile device and your PC. Gmail is web based so your mail would always be sync'd while you switched between PC and android. IMAP is also useful for dealing with mail using multiple mail clients on one account.
At this time I have been unable to find an Android mail client with the features I use on my PC mail client, such as support for multiple profiles and aliases. At present the most feature rich email software is PC based (or Mac I can only assume) as opposed to mobile apps.
note - K-9 Mail for android is often highly recommended, I intend to try it myself soon.
There's no reason why you can't have all of your email available to you on both your PC and your android device until you make the commitment to go entirely android.
