Help flakey headphone jack

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and this is my first time posting.

I just got backmy Nexus 7 from RMA. It was repaired for failing to boot up.
Works fine now, or so I thought.
Like others on this forum I couldn't get the sound to play consistently through the headphones. Jiggling the plug would only work momentarily. I pushed it in hard many times or so I thought so I dismissed the advice from many on this thread to really push it hard. I had given up and was resigned to calling Asus not for repair but for return and money back.

Then I just no longer could ignore the repeated insistence on this thread that one does really have to push beyond what most have come to expect in their experience with audio plugs. So as a result I pushed REALLY HARD!

VOILA. The plugged snapped with a kind of understated and very briefly violent snap that was at once a surprise and a cause for great satisfaction. Even yet I feel that the port's manufacturing tolerances are much too tight. Like another poster on here commented I think-that over time with repeated use-the longevity of the plugs may be affected by forces in pushing it in and pulling it out. The latter is analogical to what she said. ;)

Anyway, I hope, despite my voluble account, that my experience helps others push hard before RMAing the N7.

I've actually already been approved for a return on my Nexus 7, so this question is mostly out of curiosity.

Have people been using the headphone jack and finding it fine? On mine it is super flakey. I have to very slowly work my headphone plug in and out of the Jack until it makes a connection. It then often loses the connection as soon as I let go, so I usually have to go thru this process several times when I first plug in my headphones. If the jack gets jostled, then I often have to do it all over again.

I was kind of surprised not to hear of others with this issue, but it gives me hope that I just got a lemon (I also have the issue where the screen pops up on the left side and holding it there makes the LCD ripple).

I guess I just want confirmation that the jack is fine on most peoples' Nexi so that I probably won't have this issue on my replacement.

Too bad ASUS is having all the quality control issues, because fr the most part I absolutely love the tablet.

I am also facing same issue my nexus back speakers is blown out and it just reboots automatically in headphones the voice is really slow.
I guess there issue is compatibility with the headphones so they should provide there own headphones..
