Root Flash a splash without Fastboot?

Preeetty sure my Ally doesn't have fastboot, using reboot bootloader just restarts it, and fastboot devices on my computer yields no result regardless of what state it's in. Anyways, is there any way to make your own splash images and flash them, maybe in recovery (?)
Sorry if this has already been answered, but my searches didn't get anywhere that didn't require fastboot and was custom splash.

You can use terminal or the recovery but in recovery u need to make an update.zip for it and hav a script to install it. Using terminal,all u need is the image file and the knowledge of using terminal
