Root flash rom with stock recovery htc evo v

could the stock recovery be used to flash a stock rooted rom. this system would only require you to unlock the bootloader to root the phone. i bring this up because the boostmobile htc design has this method. apache thunder appears to have opened a new door for htc device rooting.

What do you mean by stock recovery? It is my understanding that you have to flash the recovery when you get the phone...
