Flashign rom on Canadian Virgin GS2 serious noob question

I already rooted the phone. that part was easy. and i know how to flash a rom. But is there a right and wrong rom to flash? Im worried i will brick it if i get the wrong rom.

So what do i have to do? Check what i have already and go from there?

Or could I, in theory, install any rom available? Extreme example, but say I want Orange UK branded firmware, could i even have that?

Basically i just want to get a good rom. Like Villian and i want to know i can do it safely. So a link to how to install the newest Villian, for example, would be a bonus. Must be a method that is compatible with my Virgin Canada phone.

Current version is 2.3.3

Mostly tired of wifi sharing and questionable battery life

Since the Virgin Mobile Canada and Bell Mobility phones are the same and run the same stock firmware, you should be safe to install custom ROMs, there are plenty of reviews here and on xda developers. As for flashing branded firmware from another provider, I'd be careful doing that, but if you want better/newer versions of the samsung stock firmware try here: [ROM+Guide]Official i9100 Firmwares KG, KH1/2/3/4, KI1/2/3/4/8, KJ2 Download. I've personally flashed KI3 based on this guide: [GUIDE] My Bell Canada flashing/rooting procedure without any issues (Virgin Phones use the same network/software). As with anything just make sure you read the directions carefully before you do anything and you should be fine, from my experience it's really quite difficult to brick your phone.

From what I could tell, the Bell/Virgin SGS2 is very much like the EU version, and I have not run into any issues flashing a new rom & firmware.

I usually just follow whatever instructions are in the first post of a ROM thread on XDA. I am currently on LeoMars Revolution Rom (2.3.4) and contemplating upgrading to 2.3.5 or holding out for ICS on CM9 (I don't have any pressing issues to make me get away from 2.3.4 right away).
