Help flashing android in vmware

^^^ +1, Mike! :)

Welcome to our AndroidForums, @vijayok...let us know which specific Android device you have.

I would think that using VMware would be just like using a "regular PC" (at least that's the aim of doing the virtualization), so please elaborate like Mike suggested and let us know the details and what you're having an issue with.

Cheers!

sir! iam installed android 4.42 in vmware virtual machine but some apps are not supporting in play store it is saying "your device is not compatible with this version"so i want to try to flash and iam want to install custom roms.is it possible?

Ah, thanks for the clarification :).

Yeah, you're going to find/see that some apps require an Android version higher than what you have installed or there are other attributes of your setup that are not quite compatible (it's an emulated / virtual environment after all and not a true Android device).

I've not used Android running on a VMware environment before so I can't really speak to what it takes to do the other flashing and custom ROM installation for that scenario.

If you're running Android in a virtual machine, e.g. in VMware or Virtual Box, that's Android-x86, which is a custom version intended to run on a PC. There is nothing to flash, because there is no ROM or anything. You want to change version, you just boot a different ISO image. There's numerous versions and builds from http://www.android-x86.org/ and http://www.x86android.com/ (Chinese).

Bare in mind these are all alpha/beta, and so don't be too surprised if an app doesn't work or is incompatible
