Help Flashing Boot Up Screen

I own a Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant i9000 with Froyo 2.2

over the past few days the phone was running a bit "laggy" then not able to pick up any service anywhere. And to make things worse now the phones boot up screen (where it says Galaxy S GT-I9000) flashes non stop and i am unable to even turn the phone off now.

Im assuming this is a software issue. My main question is wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if they were able to resolve it?
 
Bump...android forum and no one can at least tell me what may be wrong?

also i should add that trying to factory reset the device still has no response and just flashes Galaxy S screen. The only response from an action i can get from the phone is going into the "Downloading do not turn off Target screen" even tho Kies cannot even communicate with it now.

I also tried having the battery out for a number of minutes and trying the factory reset again with no luck or response from the phone.
 
I have the same problem and from what I have found out it looks like a software problem that requires a return to Samsung. My local friendy phone store guy couldn't fix it, and the Bell store said it was a "frequent' problem.
So now I will be sending it away and maybe in 4-6 weeks time can give you an update.

Kinda sucks to be without a phone for so long, under warranty, for a software issue
