i have a real quick question and i just want to make sure of something.....ok say i have a rooted phone thats on 4.1.2 or whatever and i flash a rom thats on 4.3 and now my phone bootloops, what would be the cause of that?
On some of the earliest 4.3 Roms to emerge you had to update your CMW to a 4.3 version first or you would get all sorts of glitches and problems.
I had to do this myself to use the first versions of Jelly Bam v10 (4.3) The easiest way to achieve this is to flash the latest CM 10.2 nightly for your phone after normal system wipes, this would put in the required 4.3 CMW.
Then perform the the wipes again and flash your new Rom using the the new CMW you have just put in. Check for special install requirements of your chosen Rom.
Other than that make sure the Rom version is for your device model and check the MD5 and of course you cannot go from 4.1.2 to 4.3 without performing a full wipe first. No updating via a quick cache/ dalvik wipe.
1. Boot into recovery mode
2. Wipe Data/Factory Data Reset
3. Wipe Cache
4. Wipe Dalvik in Advance > Wipe Dalvik Cache
5. Mount and Storage > Format System
6. Mount and Storage > Format Cache
7. Mount and Storage > Format Data
8. Flash the entire ROM
