I couldn't find a forum for Optimus Select so I posted here if I 9am in the wrong place please move me.
I decided to experiment with my Optimus Select which is also an L7 variant. I had read on several posts the venice seems to be faster compared to the L7/Showtime and the added plus of JellyBean would be great aswell. So I decided to attempt to flash the Venice Firmware onto my Select and it did work with some caveats. I wouldn't recommend this to newbies

Things needed:
Optimus Select Phone
USB Cable
KDZ _FW_UPD_EN.zip
LG Venice firmware LG730ZV8
DFS program from cdmatool.com
I suggest you factory reset your phone before starting.
Unzip the KDZ tools
Install msxml.msi
Run UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe
Under Encrypt cab file to kdz file select the venice firmware
Wait, program will act like it isn't doing anything when its finished for me it popped open explorer window with the kdz file in it.
Connect usb cable to computer
Put phone into download mode by holding Volume up & down while inserting USB cable into phone.
Run KDZ_FW_UPD.exe
Type should be set to 3gqct and phonemode diag
Select the kdz file created earlier and click Launch Software update
It will seem to freeze at first but let it finish the dialog errors are normal and nothing to worry about
Phone will restart on its own(Once my phone restarted I was prompted for a password to decrypt filesystem. A factory reset cleared it. this required me to restart phone hold volume up & home & power)
The major glitch I had was that my phone had a MEID of all zeros after the upgrade.
I was able to repair this by using the DFS tool from cdmatool.com, though I believe cdma workshop can also fix this.
Once I repaired the MEID I was able to use DFS to program my phone back over to PagePlus. callng and texting does work data I don't know because I am currently out of data this month
