Root Flashing over .211 vs .214 vs .215

Before you flash a ROM, you have to be on stock rooted .211, .214, or .215 correct? Now does it matter what stock firmware you are on when you flash a ROM? would you benefit from flashing over a certain stock firmware? and when you root, can you root over .215 after flashing it from stock recovery? or is that not good? thanks :)

All depends. Read the instructions for whatever rom you want to flash VERY closely BEFORE you flash the rom that way you know what version you need to be on and so forth

yes it matters. for instance, some of the miui based builds require a certain stock build
again read the developers instructions

Now would you flash a stock firmware in stock recovery? Or would safestrap be fine? And lastly, what about going from ROM to ROM? How would that work then?

stock firmware will not flash on custom recoveries and if you didnt tamper with the original firmware.
from going rom to rom, you would use safe strap 2.1
if your flashing zip files to a stock firmware (UIs, beats audio, mods, hacks, ect) you would use boot strap (only before backing up)

But for real, it doesn't matter what you're on when you flash as long as you don't try to flash a gb rom over an ics rom if it says you need to be on ics. You have to wipe data/cache and format /system before you flash anyway so there won't be anything left if the other rom.

Most of the ics roms are compatible with 211, 214. 215 and sometimes even the leaks from way back

Once again, just read the instructions and it will tell you what you need to be on.

If you can follow instructions there won't be any issues, if you can't, then I suggest you stop now before you cause more work for yourself :p
