Flashing White and distorted screen

I've had a Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate for about 6 months now, and whenever I unlock my phone, the screen is a very bright, blank, white screen. I've tried removing and reinstalling the battery and so fourth, but the only way I can see the normal screen is if I do a twisting motion on my phone. Things kept getting worse, and now my phone turns itself off whenever I unlock it. Any suggestions?
