Help flickering screen

Hi All

I am new to android phones and just taken delivery of my Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830. on Virgin mobile network

Phone working great for a week but now in certain apps I get a flickering screen. in maps it is ok until I zoom in and the screen flickers.

In Gallery it flickers around the top of the screen but not when photos or videos open. most noticeably it flickers a lot in angrybirds. my kids play that a lot.

I have a silicon case and another leather case with a fold over flap. I wonder if one of these buggered my phone up?

Is this a fault or software issue?

it is running android v2.3.4
baseband v s5830xwkp7

build gingerbread.xwkpu

kernal 2.6.35.7-perf-cl484646 root@dell154#1

thanks very much for your help.

Richard

Hi All

My phone providor have agreed to swap out the phone as I only had it a couple of weeks. They have never heard of this fault before on this phone.

I have a leather foldy type case that has a small magnet on the back to hold it all together. like this

as unlikely as it seems, might this have contributed to the fault?

Thanks

Richard

i have a flap case for my Ace. is there any app which [using the proximity sensor] switches off the phone screen when flap is closed ??

i will be grateful for any link/advice

thank you!

you know I brought a case for my phone and I noticed it uses a magnet to close, I decided to not use it as I felt there was a risk of damage. Also that it blocks the BLN leds :p
